Falcons swim at Catawba

Salisbury, NC Ė The Pfeiffer Falcons dropped their fourth meet of the season to the Catawba College Indians 160-323. The women lost 71-159, while the men lost 89-164. Both teams tallied a total of eight first place wins during the meet.

Pat Porter (Kannapolis, NC) led the men with two first place finishes taking the 50 and 100 yard freestyle races with times of 21.85 and 49.64, respectively. Zach McMichael (Raleigh, NC) won the 100 yard butterfly in 53.34 and Marc Kourie (Johannesburg, South Africa) took the 100 yard backstroke in 55.95. Kevin Parks (Mesa, AZ) rounded out the menís wins by taking the 200 yard individual medly (2:15.36). The menís 200 yard freestyle relay missed out on first place by only five hundredths of a second.

Leading the women was Brittany Byrum (Matthews, NC) who took first place in the 100 yard butterfly (1:05.32) and 200 yard individual medley (2:21.21). Byrum helped her teammates to a first place finish in the 200 yard medley. The team of Byrum, Amanda Shields (Severna Park, MD), Hannah Fitzgibbons (Mt. Kisco, NY), and Nicole DiVaccaro (Woodstown, NJ) came in with a time of 2:12.03.
