October 12, 2009
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A pair of goals by Kirsten Bartsch (Leesburg, VA) and Sam Brown (Linthicum, MD) helped Pfeiffer University score a 4-1 road win at Converse on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action. The victory pushes the Lady Falcons unbeaten streak to seven matches, winning their last five-straight outright. Pfeiffer improves to 7-3-3 overall, 4-1-2 in conference play.
Converse struck first on Saturday and carried a 1-0 lead into the half with Aundi Hunter’s goal in the 41st minute. After a quick halftime break, Bartsch put the Lady Falcons on the board just 55 seconds into the second period with an unassisted tally for her fifth of the season. Brown would register the next two team goals in the 49th and 60th minutes, beating Converse keeper Ashley Mercuri one-on-one and taking a cross from Bartsch on the hour. Bartsch clanked her second goal off the left post deflecting it in for the game’s final score.
Pfeiffer will get back to action on Tuesday early evening with a 5:00 p.m. Conference Carolinas tilt at Coker.
