Prim Qualifies for Nationals; Breaks Six More School Records at Fall Frenzy

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University freshman Julianna Prim (Yadkinville, NC) shattered six more school records and qualified for the NCAA II National Meet in the Wingate Fall Frenzy over the weekend at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte. Prim qualified for the national meet, to be held in Canton, Ohio mid-March, in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.66. To qualify for the national meet, swimmers need to complete the 200 fly with a time under 2:06.99.

In addition to moving onto nationals in March, the 200 fly was one of the six school records Prim eclipsed in the two-day event. Prim set the new mark by over nine seconds that was set back in 1999 by Jaime Jones. The other five records broken by Prim already had her name stamped next to it as she broke her old marks in the 100 freestyle (52.27), 100 fly (57.65), 200 individual medley (2:12.55), 200 free (1:53.46) and 500 free (5:05.28).

The Lady Falcons swim team finished fifth in the seven team meet with 331.5 points. The men’s team finished fourth of six with 506.5 points. Kevin Parks (Mesa, AZ) paced the Falcons with four top-10 finishes at the Fall Frenzy. Both the men’s and women’s swim teams will take the rest of 2009 off for training, before getting back into competitive action on Friday, January 1st at St. Leo in Florida.
