Falcons Score 100 Points Off the Bench in 120-106 Win at Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Pfeiffer University scored 100 points off the bench en route to a 120-106 victory over Queens University of Charlotte in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action on Saturday night. The Falcons put six scorers in double-figures shooting 66% from the field. Pfeiffer chalks another one up in the win column improving to 7-5 overall, 3-3 in conference play. The Royals fall to 5-8, 2-4.
Jeff Pettiway stole the show shooting 13-13 from the field including five-for-five in 3-point field goals. His only miss on the night came on the backend of a pair from the charity stripe with 8:54 remaining in the first half. Pettiway finished with 26 points pacing the Falcons.
The first half included 17 lead changes with the Falcons leading at the break 57-55. With both teams hitting more than 52% of their shots, the difference in the game through twenty minutes was Pfeiffer’s ability to score off the bench – leading the Royals 44-25.
In the second half, Queens stayed within five points until a Pfeiffer 8-0 run with 12 minutes remaining gave the Falcons a 10-point cushion they would build on for the remainder of the game. Pfeiffer out rebounded the Royals 32-31 while each team gave up 15 turnovers. The Royals played a physical game committing 26 fouls, allowing the Falcons to convert 28 of their 38 free throw attempts.
Chris Woods finished the night with 23 points, followed by James Crowder’s 21. Davon Gilliard (18), Reggie Hollinger (13) and Derrick Truesdale (10) each rounded out with double-digit points. For Queens, Daniel Bailey turned in a game-high 32 points followed by Reggie Hopkins’ 25. Hopkins also crossed the 1,000-point plateau with his 24th point on the night.
Pfeiffer will take Sunday off before heading to St. Andrews on Monday night to wrap up the three-game, week long road trip. The Falcons and Knights will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
