Lady Falcons Drain 10 Three-Pointers; Women's Basketball Back in Win Column with 67-44 Victory at St. Andrews

LAURINBURG, N.C. – Sophomore forward Jamila Harris contributed a game-high 19 points as Pfeiffer University defeated St. Andrews Presbyterian College 67-44 in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action on Monday night. The Lady Falcon defense allowed just 44 points, a new season-best, improving to 6-7 overall, 6-2 in league play. The loss drops the Knights to 1-10, 0-8.

Pfeiffer set an early tone grabbing the lead off of the tip with4-0 lead after a basket by Harris. Jacquese Smith and Brittany Roberts each sliced a pair of Knights deficits back to three on a jumper and three-pointer, before Harris drained her own three that put Pfeiffer back up a half-dozen with 13:41 to go in the period.

A 15-5 spurt separated the Lady Falcons on a couple of threes by Celeste Caudill and Jessica Walter throughout the middle portion of the opening half. St. Andrews again battled back with an 8-2 run on a pair of baskets by Kayla Hay and a jumper by Megan Lee to trail Pfeiffer 33-25 at the break.

Out of the second-half gate, Smith and Hay each drained another basket cutting the Lady Falcon lead back to four at 33-29, before a 25-8 run by the visitors created the separation over the final 10 minutes of play. In that span, Caudill would score 11 points, nine of three-balls in conjunction with a Shelly Reese three.

In addition to Harris, Caudill also finished in double-digits for the Lady Falcons scoring 14 points on the night. Hay, who concluded with a double-double, was the only Knight to finish in double-digits with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Pfeiffer did shoot 55.6% from behind the arc draining five three-pointers in each half going 10-for-18 as a team.

The Lady Falcons will get back to action beginning a three-game homestand on Thursday night against Limestone. St. Andrews will stay at home to entertain Belmont Abbey. Both contests will begin at 5:30 p.m.
