March 2, 2010
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University’s Eric Shoemaker (8-10 overall, 5-4 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas baseball Player of the Week during week number four in the 2010 season. The outfielder played a huge role in a 3-2 overall & 2-1 league record for the week.
He led the Falcons going 8-for-16 with three homers and 12 RBI. Shoemaker started the week 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI in a 22-6 rout over Tusculum. The junior followed Tuesday's performance with a pinch-hit, opposite field blast against No. 21 UNC-Pembroke. Shoemaker then hit .400 in the weekend conference series with Coker. Saturday’s twin-bill saw Shoemaker come through with a clutch, game-tying three-run bomb in game two, a part of a four RBI day. Sunday's series finale finished for Shoemaker going 2-for-4 adding another RBI and two more runs scored as the Falcons took the rubber game over the Cobras 16-10.
Shoemaker and the Falcons will host Lander, continuing their 10-game homestand, on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
