Women's Tennis Moves to 4-0 Behind 8-1 Rout of Newberry

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University’s women’s tennis team claimed an 8-1 victory over Newberry College on Friday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center. The Lady Falcons cruised through doubles to take a 3-0 match lead into singles. Pfeiffer remains unbeaten at 4-0 on the year while Newberry falls to 1-5.
Catie Thomas and Chelsi Haefele were the first doubles duo to record a victory with an 8-1 win at #3 doubles. Alena Krutkina/Patty Dominguez notched an 8-3 win in the first position while Maddy Billeter and Jonnell Carpenter came up victorious 8-6.
The Lady Falcons breezed through most of singles play as Dominguez, Thomas, Carpenter and Haefele all won 6-0, 6-0 without dropping a single game. Billeter was the other victor for Pfeiffer with a 6-3, 6-4 win at #3 singles. The lone Newberry point came at #1 singles as Autise Mortimer registered a 6-4, 6-2 win over Krutkina.
The Lady Falcons are back in action on Saturday afternoon traveling to Anderson to open up Conference Carolinas play.
