MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Starting right-hander John McDaniel (Mocksville, NC) tossed eight innings, allowing one run on six hits with six strikeouts, helping Pfeiffer University complete the three-game conference sweep over Limestone with a 10-1 victory on Sunday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field. Behind McDaniel, the Falcons improve to 16-17 overall, 9-6 in Conference Carolinas play. The Saints dip down to 10-18, 5-10.

All of Pfeiffer’s offensive damage came in the first five frames while McDaniel took care of Limestone’s offense. Preston Lyon (Gastonia, NC) put the hosts on the board with a sacrifice-fly to left while Will Davis (New London, NC) picked up an RBI-double to left to complete a two-run first. Davis was also the main contributor in a three-run second coming up with a two-run single to left in front of Carlos Badillo’s (Gurabo, PR) sac-fly to right.

The Falcons threw two more on the board in the third and fourth as Myles Pearl (High Point, NC) drove in Badillo and Aarin Sharpe (Winterville, NC) with his single to left while Josh Strickland (Liberty, NC) plated Davis with his two-run blast to center in the fourth.

Scoring on the afternoon rounded out for the Falcons on a Jesse Dunn (Easley, SC) solo shot to center while the Saints got on the board in the seventh with a Tim Welsh (Kalamazoo, MI) single to left that brought home Joe Maloney (Aston, PA).

McDaniel handcuffed the Saints early on retiring 13 in a row during the first five innings. Pfeiffer at the plate was led by Davis’ 3-for-4 outing with three RBI. Dunn and Pearl each finished with a pair of hits as well. Welsh accounted for two of Limestone’s six hits on the day.

Pfeiffer returns to action this Tuesday and Wednesday hosting Georgia College and State University and 3:00 p.m. The Falcons, including this upcoming series with the Bobcats, have just three home games remaining in 2010.
