Kennedy Scores Three and Assists on Four as #10 Women's Lacrosse Bounces SNHU 15-9

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University, ranked tenth in the latest IWLCA poll, scored a dozen first half goals en route to a 15-9 victory over visiting Southern New Hampshire in women’s lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field. The Lady Falcons improve to 8-2 overall while the Penmen even to 2-2.
Pfeiffer built an early 2-0 lead on goals from Jessica Kennedy (Perth, AUSTRALIA) and Heidi Karaszkiewicz (Glen Burnie, MD) inside the first five minutes of play. Southern New Hampshire got on the board with a tally at 20:19 from Emily Mongeau (Westborough, MA) on a free position shot. After Mongeau’s score, Pfeiffer would rattle off the next eight strikes to take a 10-1 advantage.
Eight different Lady Falcons scored in that stretch with Liz Melesh (Annapolis, MD) starting the streak at the 19:39 mark of the first. Amanda Smith (Hagerstown, MD), Alex Cook (Commack, NY), Tory Binder (Woodstock, MD), Allie Gamble (Easton, MD) and Sarah Hebberd (Golden, CO) would each score in a five minute span putting the Lady Falcons up seven. Karaszkiewicz and Binder followed with their second goals of the day for the nine-goal advantage with 4:26 to play.
Carole Lee (Derry, NH) scored both of her goals at the 3:36 and 1:50 mark before and after another tally from Kennedy as Binder closed out the half with her third and a 12-3 halftime lead for the Lady Falcons.
Sherry Darrell (Bow, NH) scored all four of her game-high amount in the second half, beginning with a free position shot 67 seconds in. After Gamble and Natalie Marvin (South Berwick, ME) went back-to-back, Sara Hilbich (Salem, NH) and Darrell accounted for five of the game’s final six goals. Kennedy squeezed the 15th goal for the Lady Falcons in at 10:39. Kennedy also finished with a game-high four assists while Allie King (Severna Park, MD) led all with a game-high five groundballs.
The tenth-ranked Lady Falcons will be back in action this weekend traveling to Severna Park, MD for a pair of neutral site games. Pfeiffer will take on Molloy on Saturday before third-ranked C.W. Post on Sunday.
