Barton Claims a Pair of Tight Doubles Matches Defeating Men's Tennis 6-3

MISENHEIMER, N.C. Ė Barton College claimed all three doubles matches, two by a 9-8 final, to knock off Pfeiffer University 6-3 in Conference Carolinas menís tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center. Barton improves to 9-3 overall, 3-2 in league play as the Falcons drop down to 6-4, 1-2.
PA Desilets/Matt Jackman had the only easy victory in doubles with an 8-4 win over Andrea Cazzaro/Frank Pouchet in the middle position. Cesar Grobel/Roman Mendoza needed a 7-1 tiebreak over Philip Lawson/Johan de Wit while Diego Salinas/Eduardo Stefani claimed a 7-5 tiebreaker in the 9-8 set decisions at number one and three doubles.
In singles action, the Bulldogs claimed victories at the first two positions as Grobel defeated Cazzaro by retirement and Mendoza flying past Lawson 6-3, 6-1. De Wit claimed a Falcon point along with Kaushik in the two middle matches of singles with identical 6-3, 6-0 victories. The Bulldogs claimed an insurance point in the fifth position as Salinas came out with a pair of one and one wins over Pouchet while Kerr claimed the final Pfeiffer point with a 7-5, 6-1 win at number six.
Pfeiffer gets back to action on Tuesday and Wednesday hitting the road for a pair of Conference Carolinas matches at Queens and Limestone. Both matches will begin at 2:00 p.m.
