Women's Golf Jumps Up to Finish T-2nd at CC Tournament; Cowles and McMenimon Named to All-Tournament Team

CLEMMONS, N.C. – Led by a pair of Lady Falcons finishing inside the top-10, Pfeiffer University climbed up to conclude the 2010 Conference Carolinas golf tournament in a tie for second with a final round of 321 for a three-day total of 987. Belmont Abbey won the overall team title firing a 932 for the Sunday-Tuesday tournament held at the par 72, 5,805 layout of the Tanglewood Country Club.
Alison Cowles and Jackie McMenimon, both named to the all-tournament team, finished tied for ninth with a three-round total of 243. Cowles and McMenimon put up identical 85’s after round one, but rebounded with rounds traded off of 78 and 80. Cowles went in that 78-80 order while McMenimon flipped it around at 80-78.
Chelsea Demers finished in an overall tie for 16th with a 253 total (84-87-82) while Rene Kelly and Elizabeth Johnson concluded tied for 20th with totals of 257. Kelly carded 82-89-86 while Johnson went 91-85-81.
Despite finishing second in the league’s three-day tournament, the Lady Falcons are a long shot to make the NCAA II Super Regional in Salisbury, NC competing with south region powers from the Sunshine State, South Atlantic and Peach Belt Conferences.
