Jacintho's Even Par 70 Leads Men's Golf to Top Spot After Round One of Falcon Cup Tournament

BADIN, N.C. – Pfeiffer University’s Luiz Jacintho shot an even par 70 leading the Falcons to the top spot after a breezy round one of the 2010 Pfeiffer Falcon Cup held at the par-70, 6,345 yard Badin Inn Golf Resort. Pfeiffer shot 298 as a team leading the Queens “B” team by three. King College stands just four back at 302 while “B” teams from Wingate and Pfeiffer concluded at 305 and 308, respectively.
Behind Jacintho’s 37 and 33, Alex Willnow of Wingate went 32-39 to follow at 71. King’s Josh Bamberger and Pfeiffer’s Jonathan Miles tied for third with 72’s. Bamberger carded 34-38 while Miles turned in 37-35. Rounding out the top five were Justin Fedje of the second place Royals and Thomas Sennett of the Falcons “B” team. Both shot a three-over 73 as Fedje went 36-37 while Sennett, who carded the only eagle of the day, scored 38-35.
On day one, the par-5 17th measuring 480 yards was scored as the toughest hole for the field with an average score of 5.31. The par-3 11th, logging 196 yards, turned out to be the easiest of the 18 with a 3.27 stroke average. In addition to Sennett’s eagle, 34 birdies were also turned in from the 26 player field.
The final round from the Badin Inn Golf Resort will begin on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
