Up 15-12, the Lady Falcons went on to score the next 10 points with three Kristina Mordini (Freeport, IL) kills and pair of aces by libero Kaci Markham (Asheboro, NC).
Pfeiffer rolled to a 25-9 win in set two as Ovbey and Vizvary each had early kills while Markham served up two more aces. Finishing three aces shy of a school record, the Lady Falcons had 17 in the four-set match. Vizvary and Mordini quickly put Pfeiffer up 12-2 before Cokerís Katie McElveen (Hartsville, SC), Brittany Bass (Bethune, SC) and Lauren Huther (Myrtle Beach, SC) each had kills bring the Lady Cobras within seven. Later in the set, five-straight Coker errors led to Pfeiffer pulling away for a 2-0 match lead.
After a brief intermission for homecoming activities, Coker came out for a 29-27 win in set three to stave off the sweep. A McElveen ace broke a 24-24 tie before Cynallhia Indriagoís (Columbia, SC) ace put the visitor up by one. After a pair of game points on both sides, McElveen and April Griggs (Bishopville, SC) threw down the final two kills for the 29-27 win.
Pfeiffer trailed Coker 10-5 to start set four before a timeout put the Lady Falcons back on track. Mordini came up with a kill and two aces on three-straight plays to bring the hosts within two. Another Ovbey kill and attack error by Coker knotted the set at 13 apiece while Griggs put the Lady Cobras back up a pair with another one of her eight kills at 18-16. A crucial four-point run by the Lady Falcons at 20-all proved to be the difference-maker. Kathryn Hobson (Asheboro, NC) had two kills in that stretch with Milana Mervosh (Roebuck, SC) ended it on her fourth and final kill of the afternoon.
Pfeiffer continues weekend action on Sunday night against Wingate. The Lady Falcons will take on the Lady Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. with a neutral site contest at Carolina Courts in Charlotte.†
