Swimming Splits Decisions with Catawba; Men Win Big over Nearby Rival

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University swim teams turned in split decision hosting cross-town rival Catawba on Friday night at the Merner Pool. The men scored a 137-38 win over the Indians while the visitors notched a 128-64 victory over the Lady Falcons.

The Falcon men began the evening’s festivities with a win in the 400-yard individual medley. Victors by six seconds, Kevin Parks, Jim Roddenbery, Andrew Corley and Mark Franz combined on the win. Roddenbery later scored an individual in the 200 free before the Lady Falcons got on the board with their lone win as Jillian Kniffen and Haley Carter finished one-two in the 50 free.

George Moreno tallied his own 50 free win concluding in just over 22 seconds before doing the same in twice the length in under 50 seconds. In between Moreno’s two wins, Charlie Melesh and Zach McMichael finished in the top spots of the 400 IM and 100 fly. Melesh nabbed another win in the 500 free in front of Parks’ 100 yard breaststroke win. Franz, Corley, Adam Wise and Cory Pooley finished the night off with a relay win in the 400 free.
