Woods Backs Preseason All-American Status with Week One Player of the Week Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University’s Chris Woods has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men’s basketball Player of the Week during week number one in the 2010 season. Woods started off the 2010-11 season with a pair of career highs in points depositing 36 points in two different contests averaging a double-double to start the five-game span.
Woods started by logging 37 minutes with 27 points and 11 boards in an eight-point win over Urbana. He followed that up with a 36-point effort the next night with 10 rebounds in a comeback win over Livingstone. Playing the third game in four nights at Virginia State, Woods put in 16 points before posting a massive double-double to end the week at Catawba.
The preseason All-American tied his career-high with 36 points and 18 rebounds to average 24.8 points and 10.6 rebounds to start. Woods logged 171 of a possible 200 minutes shooting 59% for the week, with every contest being over 44% from the field. Woods drained 75% of his free throws to add to his five-game total. The Falcons are currently 2-3 on the year.
