MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Livingstone College put five players in double-digit scoring as the Blue Bears scored a 94-88 victory over Pfeiffer University in non-conference men’s basketball action on Tuesday night. Livingstone picks up their fourth-straight win improving to 4-1 on the year while the Falcons even to 4-4 shooting just 20% from long range.

A pair of free throws by Davon Gilliard (Charleston, SC) gave the Falcons an 8-4 lead just over five minutes into the first half as the Blue Bears took over from there. A 12-0 run started the separation as Omar Ford-Bey (Chester, PA) completed an unusual four-point play to spark the streak.

A triple by Donte Durant (Washington, DC) and pair of free throws by Trone Jackson (San Bernadino, CA) hoisted the visitors to a double-figure lead with eight and a half minutes remaining. A three from Pfeiffer’s Jeff Pettiway (Edgewood, MD) brought the hosts within four with 6:22 to play, before Livingstone eventually took a five-point lead into the break.

Livingstone maintained a healthy lead throughout the second half. Vonte Eaford (Orlando, FL) and Chris Woods (Thomasville, NC) each sliced the lead back down to five early in the second half until a 15-4 Blue Bears run pushed the lead to 16 with 13:12 remaining. Pfeiffer trimmed the lead down to seven on three different occasions late, but Livingstone slowed the pace down over the final few minutes to hold on for the six-point win.

For the victors, Durant put up a game-high 16 while Greg Henry (Atlanta, GA) followed with 13. Ford-Bey, along with Darius Cox (Monroe, NC) and Nasir Austin (Seat Pleasant, MD), each had a dozen. Pfeiffer was led by Pettiway’s 24 while Woods posted another double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Gilliard was the other Falcon in double-figures dropping in 14.

Pfeiffer now enters the 19-day Christmas break returning to Conference Carolinas action on Monday, January 3rd. The Falcons will host Barton at 7:30 p.m.
