Men's Volleyball Continues Making Splash on National Scene with Top-Five Rankings in Three Categories

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Through the first national report of 2011 in division one  men's volleyball, Pfeiffer University currently holds down two top-five positions as a team and one with an individual. As a team, the Falcons are fifth in aces per set and tied for fifth in digs per set while Drew Burdette shows up third in the nation in aces per set.

Pfeiffer averages 1.57 aces per set putting them fifth through the first report of the season. The Falcons are currently head of other division one institutions such as Penn State, Ohio State and recently played Ball State. In digs per set, Pfeiffer stands tied for fifth averaging 9.05 digs in a set. Again, the Falcons have several big name programs looking up at them including Stanford, Hawai'i, BYU and Penn State.

Individually, Burdette is third on the aces per set list averaging 0.63 per 25-point contest. Burdette trails leader Austin pappas of Rutgers-Newark who stands at 0.71.

A year ago, Pfeiffer became instantly known around the country in their first year of existence as the NCAA I statistical champion in digs per set as a team and individually in the same category with libero Mark Hess. Pfeiffer returns to action on Saturday with a pair of matches at Mount Olive, including the 2011 Conference Carolinas opener with the Trojans. The league tilt kicks off at 12:00 p.m. followed by a non-conference tilt with York at 2:00 p.m.
