Men's Volleyball Runs Out of Steam in 3-2 Loss at King

BRISTOL, T.N. – King College rallied from down two sets to one grabbing a five-set, 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 26-24, 16-25, 13-15) victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas men’s volleyball action on Saturday afternoon. The Tornados move to 5-4 overall, 2-2 in league play while the Falcons drop to 5-4, still winless in conference play at 0-2.
Michael Koebel was the only Tornado in double figures throwing down 14 kills in the match. Joel Salva had 40 assists while King hit just .210 as a team. Pfeiffer placed three in double-digits paced by Drew Burdette’s 16 kills while Eric Edelman secured 13 with Micah Bortner’s 10. Evan Fullerton dished out 38 assists as the Falcons hit .227 in the five-set marathon.
After playing the first nine games of 2011 away from home, Pfeiffer will enter Merner Gym for the first time on Friday afternoon for a matinee with Washington Adventist. The Falcons will have first serve with the Shock beginning at 1:30 p.m.
