Women's Golf Wraps Up Spring Break Week with Pair of Head to Head Wins over Holy Cross and Findlay

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer woman’s golf team beat DI Holy Cross University at Tot Hill Farms Golf club in Asheboro on Wednesday and University of Findlay on Friday in a pair of head-to-head matches during spring break.

Wednesday, the Falcons were lead by Stephanie Peareth (Durhan, England) with 82.  She was supported by Chelsea Demers (Wilton, NH) and Angela Gimenez (Castellon, Spain) who each shot 85, and Captain Jackie McMenimon (Easton, MA) with 85.  Lauren Lyle, Amanda Wemple, Kelly Hill, and Meredith Beavin competed, but were not involved in the scoring.

Tot Hill Farms is the #7 rated difficult course in America, according to Golf Digest annual rankings.  It is right behind Bethpage Black course from New York, which among the most difficult course in the country.  The course was saturated with water, and a challenge for all.  Holy Cross best round was 86 by Maghan Doughery, 88 was shot by Johann Gavin, 87 by Ellie Deluca and 92 from Kerrin O’Leary. The margin of victory was 339 to 353

On Friday, Chelsea Demers shot a one- under par 71 at Willow Creek Country Club in High Point North Carolina. She led the team to victory over University of Findlay, a D-II school from Findlay, Ohio.

Chelsea had five birdies and four bogies in her best round of the season.  Angela Gimenez shot a 77, Jackie McMenimon had a six over par  78.  Lauren Lyle and Kelly Hill rounded out the team scoring with 85’s.  University of Findlay was led by Andrea Vogt with a 76.  Going into the last foursome of the tight match, Pfeiffer was down by a shot.  McMenimon’s 78 and Demers 71 bested their last group by 5 strokes, to give a winning margin of 311-315.  The 311 score is the best score of the spring season for the Lady Falcons.

The Falcons return to action March 21-22 in Pinehurst during the Wingate Invitational.
