Clark and Ljubicic Join Volleyball Staff for '11-'12 Campaigns

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University men and women’s volleyball head coach Steve Bintz announced that Nick Clark and Petra Ljubicic will join the volleyball coaching staff for the upcoming 2011-2012 seasons. Clark comes to Pfeiffer with 10+ years of coaching experience in the state of Michigan while Ljubicic begins coaching after a very successful playing career at Pfeiffer holding numerous school records.

Clark, a 2010 graduate from Eastern Michigan, enters the Village after a pair of seasons with the Siena Heights men’s volleyball program. During his tenure as an assistant, Clark helped guide his players to five all-conference awards with the conference’s setter of the year. Clark helped put 14 players on All-Academic squads during his two seasons. At  EMU, Clark played volleyball as an outside and opposite leading his teammates on a 2009 mission trip to Moscow, Russia.

A 2003 graduate of Airport Senior High School in Carleton, MI, Clark began his coaching career at the age of 16 as an assistant with the First Attack Volleyball Club. Seven of his 10 years with First Attack were in a head coaching capacity at various levels.

Ljubicic joins the Pfeiffer Volleyball staff after a very successful four-year career with the Lady Falcons. Starting in her freshman year and every game since, Ljubicic would go on to set a school-record with 27 digs in a five set match doing so against Lees-McRae back on October 1, 2008. In the same senior season, Ljubicic would finish her career holding school records for kills (408) and total attempts (1,152) in a season as well as holding the career mark for total attempts in a career with 3,024. Pfeiffer finished with the best record in school history during that campaign with a 27-6 overall record going 18-2 in conference play.

Postseason accolades included MVP, first-team all-conference and second-team all-state for the outside hitter. Coach Ljubicic graduated from Pfeiffer in December 2009 after majoring in Organizational Communication and Studio Art (concentration in 2D) along with a minor in Spanish. She is currently working on her Masters of Science in Leadership and Organizational Change.

Originally from Serbia, Coach Ljubicic moved to the States with her parents and brother in 1999.

The 2011 Lady Falcons are set to kick off the fall slate on September 2-3 at the Queens Invitational in Charlotte.
