MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Four goals in the first 22:06 allowed Queens University of Charlotte to register a 4-1 victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon. The win pushes the Royals to 6-9 overall, 4-7 in league play, and coupled with a Limestone win over Mount Olive, enters next week’s conference tournament as the eighth and final seed. The Falcons see their season come to an end going 3-13-1, 2-8-1.
Felipe Netto (Salvador, BRAZIL) started scoring in the eighth minute with his shot deflecting inside the left post. Less than two minutes later, Jeremy Chambers (Princeton, WV) made it a two-goal advantage with his rocket that also went in left post. Chambers then turned around and assisted on Kevin Anderson’s (Mooresville, NC) second of the season in the 20th minute before Yannick Fischbach (Dussaldorf, GERMANY) connected for the fourth and final goal three minutes later.
The lone bright spot for the Falcons came in the 47th minute just after the intermission when Niko Andrade (Gainesville, GA) delivered his corner kick to the foot of Eamonn Smith (Flowery Branch, GA) who poked in his first of the season.
The Royals held a large 27-13 shots advantage with a dozen going on frame. Pfeiffer put eight of theirs on net with six being turned away by keeper Simen Walmann (Nevlunghavn, NORWAY). Queens made one team save for the other. Zach Liles (Cumming, GA) knocked down eight shots in net for the Falcons.
