DURHAM, N.C. – Pfeiffer University freshman Jodie Lemons (Madison, NC) dropped in a team-high 12 points hitting four three-point baskets in a 112-27 exhibition loss to the Duke Blue Devils on Thursday night inside historic Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils benefitted from 39 fast break points with 32 steals in the win.
Duke started on a 12-0 run before Lemons hit a pair on long range triples to put the Lady Falcons on the board. Lemons would hit her third-straight three with just over nine minutes to play providing the early offense for the Lady Falcons.
After a Haley Grimsley (Thomasville, NC) free throw, baskets by Brittany Cox (Winston-Salem, NC), Christina Harvey (Locust Grove, VA) and Vontenea Williams (Granite Falls, NC) provided the final bit of offense in the first half. The Blue Devils scored 18 fast break points on 15 steals to take a 53-16 lead at the break.
Shelley Reese (Brown Summit, NC) would drain an early three to start the second half until Carlisha Holivay (Spartanburg, SC) got in on the action at 15:26. Midway through the second, Harvey would knock down both of her free throw attempts before Lemons would continue her great night with an offensive board and put-back with just under six minutes to play.
Pfeiffer will now look to the 2011-2012 season opener playing in the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational next Friday and Saturday nights. The Lady Falcons will open with the host Bears at 8:00 p.m. Friday night.
