Women's Basketball Ties School Record for Three-Pointers During 97-43 Drubbing of St. Andrews

LAURINBURG, N.C. - Pfeiffer University tied a school-record draining 14 three-pointer during a 97-43 trouncing of St. Andrews in the 2011-2012 Conference Carolinas women's basketball opener on Tuesday night. Led by Brittany Cox's five triples a part of a 23-point night, the Lady Falcons improve to 6-4 overall winning their league opener, while the Knights fall to 0-8, 0-1.
Cox scored 11 of her 23 in the first 6:51 as Pfeiffer started off on a 23-2 run. Jodie Lemons, Haley Grimsley and Kellie Rhoney each got in on the three-point barrage as the Lady Falcons found themselves up 30 midway through the first. Pfeiffer held its healthy lead for the remainder of the contest as the reserves accounted for 47 bench points during the win.
Four Lady Falcons finished in double-figures led by Cox's 9-of-17 shooting from the floor. Grimsley posted 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting while Lemons and Rhoney each had 15 and 13, respectively. As a team, Pfeiffer shot 52% from the field knocking down 48% from long distance. Pfeiffer added 17 steals on defense limiting the Knights to 25% shooting while forcing 28 St. Andrews turnovers. Rachel Hewitt led the Knights with 14 points.
