Another Second Half Lapse Leads to Fourth-Straight Loss; Coker Defeats Women's Basketball 76-61 with 51 Second Half Points

HARTSVILE, S.C. - Coker College's Amber Lau dropped 18 of her 24 points in the second half as the Lady Cobras put up 51 over the final 20 minutes to pull away from Pfeiffer University 76-61 in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action on Tuesday night. The victory pushes Coker to 4-13 overall, 4-4 in league play while the Lady Falcons drop their fourth-straight dipping to 8-9, 3-5.
Pfeiffer carried a three-point, 28-25 lead into the break, extending it to five just 1:10 into the second half. A Lau jumper started the flurry for Coker with a jumper a minute later before later giving the Lady Cobras the lead for good at 33-32 with 15:50 still to play.
At the midway point of the second, a triple by Brittany Cox cut the Coker lead down to five, 43-38. Ensuing layup's by Jasmine Alston and Jessica Cohen quickly pushed the lead back to nine.
A Haley Grimsley lay in got the Lady Falcons deficit back down to five with 7:31 remaining but Lau again drained back-to-back buckets to seperate the hosts. Coker would maintain that double-digit lead for the final seven-and-a-half minutes.
The Lady Cobras shot 44% from the field which included a 57% mark in the second half alone. Coker forced 13 steals from the Lady Falcons while holding the rebounding advantage at 50-42.
Lau led all scorers with her 23 on the night which included 12 rebounds for the double-double. Cohen followed with 15 while Alston chipped in 10. Cox again paced the Lady Falcons with 18 while Kellie Rhoney added 14.
