MILLEDGEVILLE, G.A. – The Georgia College baseball team (6-5) took the final game of the three-game set against Pfeiffer University (6-5), 7-3 Saturday afternoon. The Falcons scored their three runs in the eighth using a Bobcats error and RBI-single by Preston Lyon.
The game was knotted 0-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning. Bryce Williams (Manhattan, Kan.) walked and then stole second, before being driven in by Travis Echols (Suwanee, Ga.) two-out single into left field to take their first lead of the game. Echols finished 2-for-5 on the afternoon and Williams finished 1-for-2 with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
The Bobcats extended their lead to 5-0 after seven, aided by a Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) two-out RBI. GC would surrender three in the eighth but that was all Pfeiffer would be able to muster.
Senior Josh Young (Lake Havasu City, Ariz.) finished 2-for-4, scoring twice and swiping one bag. Derek McGowan (Raytown, Mo.) pitched a phenomenal game going seven strong, surrendering two earned runs while fanning eight. Zack Hula (Kennesaw, Ga.) recorded his first GC save cleaning up the last two innings, striking out four. Kevin Price led the way for the Falcons going 3-for-4 and scoring one run.
