Men's Lacrosse Dominates Second Half in 13-10 over League Rival Queens

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Trailing 7-3 at the half, Pfeiffer University roared back to score five goals in the third and fourth quarters to secure a 13-10 Conference Carolinas victory over Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Falcons to 8-3 overall, 2-0 in league play while sending the Royals to 4-4, 0-1.
James Shepherd started the day's scoing 1:45 into the contest while Tucker Hammock later tallied an equalizing goal with 5:08 remaining in the first. Shepherd would hit again just over a minute later as each team saw a 3-3 score after the first 15 minutes.
Queens took control scoring all four goals in the second quarter with two of those coming in a man-up situation. Three of the Royals goals on the day came with the advantage as Pfeiffer committed six penalties on the day for 4:30. Queens would end up with eight totaling 6:30.
Justin Rose would start the Falcon comeback with his only goal of the day just 44 ticks after the break. Hammock would assist on a Shepherd goal two minutes later while Cole Sheen and Steven Tilmon hit back-to-back just 32 seconds apart. Sheen would close out the third quarter while his second of three as Pfeiffer squared the contest at eight-all heading into the fourth.
Robert Hope would give the hosts the lead for good 1:35 into the final period on another assist from Hammock. Hammock would add insurance just a couple of minutes later while Sheen, Elliot Gilbert and Shepherd added three more in the closing minutes.
Hayden Kirk would stop eight shots in goal for the win while Luke Gillespie picked up four groundballs.
