Krutkina Wins League's Player of the Week Honors for Second-Straight Time After Perfect Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – For the second-straight week, Pfeiffer University’s Alena Krutkina (Omsk, RUSSIA) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis Player of the Week during week number eight of the 2012 season. Krutkina went a perfect 4-0 in both singles and doubles play including a pair of upsets against nationally and regionally ranked Erskine.
Beginning the four-match week with North Greenville, Krutkina cruised in singles 6-1, 6-0 after a comfortable 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Against the Fleet, ranked No. 37 nationally and No. 8 in the region, Krutkina partnered with Taylor Lindsay to knock off Mika Goyette and Tessa Rheault, 8-4. In singles, Krutkina took on Corin Hallman, ranked No. 18 in the region, winning a three-set battle after dropping the first set 3-6, 7-5, 10-8.
In a pair of road contests at Coker and Converse, Krutkina won 8-5 and 8-2 in doubles before cruising in straight-sets during singles 6-3, 6-4 at Coker and 6-1, 6-1 at Converse. Krutkina has won 11-straight singles matches while winning nine-straight teamed up with partner Lindsay. Krutkina's record in singles stands at 16-2 overall and 9-0 in league play. In doubles, Krutkina is 15-3, 8-1.
Krutkina and the Lady Falcons get back to league action this week traveling to Lees-McRae and King on Thursday/Friday.
