Lady Falcons Drop Pair at USC-Aiken; Saine Has Big Game Two at the Dish
April 6, 2012
AIKEN, S.C. - Pfeiffer University dropped both ends of a non-conference softball doubleheader at host USC-Aiken on Friday afternoon. The Pacers improve to 23-10 with the pair of 2-1 and 5-1 victories while the Lady Falcons drop to 17-30.
Tied 1-1 through seven, USC-Aiken would get their game-winner across on an infield single to shortstop with the bases loaded. Pfeiffer recorded the two outs in the inning with force plays at the plate.
Earlier, the Lady Falcons plated the lone run on a Kirsten Patterson RBI-single to left-center that brought home Melanie Conklin. An error and bunt single led to the Pacers tying things up in the fourth before winning it in the eighth.
After two Pfeiffer errors pushed USC-Aiken out to a 2-0 lead in the first frame of game two, the Lady Falcons were able to respond and cut the lead in half on Sadie Saine's double to right-center. A two-run homer and sacrifice fly added three for USCA in the fourth. Saine had the lone highlight of the day going 3-for-3 with her RBI in the nightcap.
Pfeiffer will now return home on Tuesday hosting Francis Marion at 3:00 p.m.
