Hill Nets Lone Goal as Women's Soccer Drops Season Opener 3-1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Three first half goals including the final unanswered propelled Clayton State to a 3-1 victory over Pfeiffer University in the 2012 women's soccer season opener on Friday at the Queens Soccer Complex. Hannah Hill scored the lone goal for the Lady Falcons.
The Lakers got on the board in the 13th minute as Brooke Bortles delivered a pass to Natalia Valentine for the first goal of the season. Hill knotted the equalizer for Pfeiffer four minutes later in the 17th minute of action scoring her first of the year unassisted.
Clayton State took the lead for good five minutes later on a Silvia Espelt strike before Valentine tallied her second of the night for insurance in the 29th minute.
Clayton State held a 13-8 advantage in shots, 8-5 in the scoring-filled first half. Each team took three corners on the evening as all of Pfeiffer's corner attempts came in the opening 45 minutes.
Pfeiffer quickly returns to action on Saturday afternoon hosting Carson-Newman at N.E. Lefko Field. Kickoff for the Lady Falcons home opener begins at 4:00 p.m. with live stats being available through www.gofalconsports.com.
