Jackson Named the First Conference Carolinas Player of the Week for Women's Soccer
September 5, 2012
HIGH POINT, N.C. - Pfeiffer University’s Aaliyah Jackson has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Soccer Player of the Week during week number one of the 2012 season.
Jackson, a freshman in her first weekend, began her collegiate career with a pair of goals including an overtime game-winner on Saturday against Carson-Newman. In her first match against Clayton State on Friday, the Statesville, NC native mustered up two of Pfeiffer's four shots on goal before taking control less than 24 hours later against Carson-Newman. Jackson broke up a scoreless draw in the 65th minute firing a shot from just inside the box and just inside the left post for her first collegiate goal of the year. After the Eagles tied it late, Jackson corralled a loose ball and broke away from 30 yards out beating the keeper one-on-one for the match-winner 7:44 into the first overtime period.
Jackson and the Lady Falcons get back to action on Wednesday traveling to region-rival Lenoir-Rhyne before kicking off Conference Carolinas action next Saturday at Queens.
