Vullo Becomes New Head Coach of Lady Falcon Softball After Successful Stint at NCAA III Level
September 13, 2012
MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University Director of Athletics Mary Ann Sunbury has announced that Chris Vullo will become the new head coach of Lady Falcon softball. Vullo brings years of head coaching experience to Pfeiffer from Daniel Webster College and New England College at the NCAA III level.
“We're so excited to have Chris Vullo come in as our new head coach of softball,” stated Sunbury. “He has turned around several softball programs in his career and we know he will be successful here as well. His enthusiasm for softball is contiguous.”
Starting at Daniel Webster, Vullo helped turn around a struggling program from a pair of wins to a 19-win season in 2009. During the 2009 campaign, the Eagles broke school records for wins, hits, RBI, doubles, strikeouts and earned run average to go along with two no-hitters. Vullo helped coach five all-conference players, three on the first-team, and had members of the softball program appear on the all-academic team.
Transitioning to New England College, Vullo again revitalized the softball program moving from a 10-28 season in 2009 to a 20-19 winning season a year ago. Vullo helped achieve the third-highest win total in school history, placed six more on all-conference teams and had the Pilgrims hit over .300 as a team in two of those three years.
“I am excited and honored to be named as the next head coach of Pfeiffer University softball program,” remarked Vullo. “I would like to thank President Michael C. Miller, Athletics Director Mary Ann Sunbury and the entire search committee for selecting me to lead the softball program and I look forward to returning the Pfeiffer softball team back to the championship level it achieved only a few short years ago.”
