MISENHEIMER, N.C. Ė Visiting Coker College limited host Pfeiffer University to just 19 second-half points closing out the game on a 20-6 run picking up a 64-51 victory in Conference Carolinas menís basketball action on Thursday night. The win, the Cobras fifth-straight over the Falcons, sends them to 8-8 overall, 5-5 in league play. The Pfeiffer loss marks their fifth-straight dropping to 3-14, 1-9.

An AJ Clark (Burlington, NC) layup with 12:38 to play in the second half gave Pfeiffer a 45-44 advantage before Coker started their final run. Errick Bethel (Irmo, SC) began the final stretch with an old-fashioned three-point play that started a 16-0 run over the next seven minutes. Sharod Williams (Miami, FL) would tally back-to-back baskets before Julian Nelson (Irmo, SC) added a layup and pair of free throws to push the lead out to double-digits. Cokerís largest lead of the night came with 4:36 remaining as Nelson tossed in another layup for a 60-45 lead as the Cobras would cruise over the final few minutes.

Late in the first half, Clark would start a rally for the Falcons dropping a 10-point disadvantage down to seven with a three before a Josh Humphrey (Matthews, NC) triple with 59 seconds left made it a 34-32 contest. Each team would miss their final shots over the last minute for a two-point Coker lead at the break.

Coker shot 44% in the win, 48% in the second half, while limiting Pfeiffer to just 19% over the final 20 minutes. Nelson led the Cobras with 17 points on the night while Andrew Morris (Melbourne, Australia) had 13 off the bench. Coker would receive 40 of their 64 points Thursday from the reserves. Humphrey again led the Falcons with 22 points on the night.

Pfeiffer will now take a week off before getting back to action against Queens next Thursday night. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Grady Cole Center in downtown Charlotte.
