Women's Basketball Wins Season-High Sixth-Straight with 87-68 Blowout Win at North Greenville; Cox Moves into 5th on All-Time Scoring List

TIGERVILLE, S.C. - Pfeiffer University senior Brittany Cox moved into 5th on the all-time scoring list after a 31-point performance during an 87-68 blowout victory at North Greenville in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action on Thursday night. Cox now stands at 1,464 points for her career, 50 points away from fourth all-time, as the Lady Falcons win their season-high sixth-straight improving to 17-3 overall, 12-3 in league play. The Crusaders drop their second-straight falling to 6-13, 4-11.
Tied at five early on the first half just three minutes in, Pfeiffer would immediately blow things open bursting out on a 23-5 run to take an 18-point, 28-10 lead after a pair of Jodie Lemons free throws. Lemons would also start the run with two from the charity stripe while Cox and Christina Harvey would chip in as well. A three-pointer at the end of the first half by North Greenville would cut the lead down to 42-28 at the break. Pfeiffer shot 40% from the field in the first half while limiting the Crusaders to 30% and 25% from behind the arc.
Pfeiffer continued to roll in the second half as Lemons start with two more free throws in the midst of a perfect 8-for-8 night at the free throw line. Cox would help push the lead into the 20's with a pair of her own free throws while later extending the lead to 22 at 57-35 with 15:47 left in the second. Lemons and Rhoney would each keep the large advantage at 21 late until a final two-point basket created the 19-point final margin.
Cox scored her 31 on 10-of-21 shooting from the floor knocking down four threes in the process. Harvey moved 19 points closer to joining the prestigious 1,000-point club o 8-of-14 shooting and a monstrous 17 rebounds. Harvey is just 25 points away from becoming the 15th member of the career 1,000-point club. Rhoney concluded with 13 points and eight assists while Lemons wrapped up with an even dozen. Pfeiffer would crush North Greenville 58-37 in the rebounding category.
