Humphrey Records One Final Double-Double as Men's Basketball Ends Season with 80-62 Loss to Queens

MISENHEIMER, N.C. Ė The Pfeiffer University menís basketball team wrapped up a tough 2012-2013 season with an 80-62 loss to visiting Queens in Conference Carolinas menís basketball action on Friday night. The victory pushes the Royals to 15-11 overall, 12-8 in league play while the Falcons season comes to an end at 4-23, 2-18.
Pfeiffer held an early 5-4 lead after all five points came from senior Josh Humphrey (Matthews, NC) who played the final game of his collegiate career on Friday night. From there, Queens would race out on a 15-4 run to grab a 10-point, 19-9 lead after a Brandon Nichols (Fayetteville, NC) layup with 10:15 to play in the half. Pfeiffer would cut the lead down to just four on two different occasions as AJ Clark (Burlington, NC) made it 23-19 on a free throw at the 6:52 mark while another Humphrey jumper did the same just 80 seconds later. Another scoring stretch by the Royals, this one a 19-6 run, gave the visitors a 44-27 halftime lead.†
After seeing the deficit get to as much as 32 in the second half, Pfeiffer was able to slice it down to 18 at the final buzzer using two later three-pointers by Clark and a final heave from Cade Isley (Greensboro, NC).†
Humphrey would end his senior night with a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds to post the double-double for Pfeiffer while Clark followed with 17. Antonio Stabler (Garner, NC) led the Royals with 18 points as one of three in double-figures as Queens shot 48% from the field and went 16-of-18 from the free throw line.
