Baseball Pounds North Greenville Pitching with Season-High 16 Runs and 21 Hits in Saturday Win

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Pounding out 21 hits and scoring a season-high 16 runs, Pfeiffer University cruised past North Greenville 16-9 in Conference Carolinas baseball action on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons improve to 12-19 overall, 7-6 in league play while dropping the Crusaders to 11-18, 4-8.
Pfeiffer would score in seven of the nine innings on Saturday starting with a two-run homer by Kyle Hackney in the top of the second. Johnny Brown, Jr. walked in front of Hackney's first pitch round-tripper. In the third, Cole McGraw added a run-scoring single while a Kevin Price double and Jacob Yates base hit made it 5-1 in the fourth.
Continuing to jump all over North Greenville pitching, Jon Gray would get in on the action with a RBI double in the sixth while the Falcons would add two more using an error at third in the inning. Brown, Jr. would add another RBI in the eighth while McGraw and Gray did the same. Pfeiffer's biggest inning came in the 9th as another North Greenville mistake cost the Crusaders four more runs as Aarin Sharpe two-run single while Hackney and Lindley picked up the final runs driven in.
Yates and McGraw would each pick up four hits in the 21-hit attack while Gray added three. Eight Falcons would pick up multi-hit days in the 16-9 victory. Josh Branch picked up the win tossing seven frames, allowing four runs on eight hits while fanning six.
Pfeiffer gets back to action on Tuesday and Wednesday traveling to Carson-Newman and Tusculum for the annual trip to Tennessee.
