Big Second and Third Quarters Lead #8 Men's Lacrosse to 15-10 Road Win at Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Six goals to end the first half and five to start the second led #8 Pfeiffer University to a 15-10 victory at Mount Olive College in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons win their seventh-straight match moving to 11-1 overall, 5-0 in league play while dropping the Trojans to 7-5, 2-2.
Steven Tilmon would score the first goal of the day nearly five minutes in before Mount Olive rattled off the next three to take a 3-1 lead after the first quarter. Kory Lutes and a man-up goal from Spencer Allen 27 seconds a part brought the Falcons back to a 3-3 game. After another Trojan tally, Lutes, Robert Hope and Cole Sheen would register the next three goals to put the visitors up 6-4. James Shepherd would add one with five seconds left as Pfeiffer carried a 7-5 lead into the half.
Khalid Stukes would extend the lead back to two six seconds after Mount Olive made it a one-goal game before a four-goal spurt gave Pfeiffer its lead for good. Hope and Tilmon would score back-to-back before Sheen hit again prior to Tilmon's third of the day. Shepherd would add two more midway through the fourth while Cole Paciejewski put home the final goal of the day for a five-goal victory at Mount Olive.
Tilmon and Shepherd each led the Falcons with three goals in the win while Hayden Kirk stopped 13 shots in net. Stukes won 20 of the 26 faceoffs aiding the possession time for Pfeiffer.
Pfeiffer will stay on the road this Saturday traveling to #7 Seton Hill for a crucial matchup with national tournament implications on the line. Match time is Greensburg, Pennsylvania is set for 1:00 p.m.
