Men's Volleyball Ends Regular Season with 3-2 Win at Erskine; Earn First Round Tourney Bye as #2 Seed

DUE WEST, S.C. - A .391 team hitting percentage in the crucial fifth set led Pfeiffer University to a 3-2 (19-25, 25-19, 25-17, 15-25, 15-12) victory over Erskine College in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action on Wednesday night. The Falcons end the 2013 regular season 14-8 overall, 12-3 in league play and will be the #2 seed in the upcoming league tournament with a first round bye. The Fleet end the regular season 13-14 overall, 9-6 in league play as a #4 seed.
Caleb Brophy would lead all attackers with 24 kills on the night hitting .386 in the five set win. Eric Edelman would be the only other Falcon in double-figures with 10 kills posting a .467 attack percentage. Brophy would also lead with 10 digs while David Specian assisted 43 times in the win. Pfeiffer would hit .368 in set one, .444 in set two before hitting .545 in set three. Mike Michelau led the Fleet with 20 kills while Mike Kawa picked up 17 kills.
First round of the 2013 Conference Carolinas men's volleyball tournament begins on Saturday afternoon while the Falcons have earned their first round bye. Pfeiffer will host the winner of Saturday's #3 Lees-McRae and #6 Belmont Abbey matchup next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
