Jarmusch's Four-Win Week Earns Her Softball's Pitcher of the Week Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University's Sam Jarmusch has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week during week nine of the 2012–2013 Softball season. Jarmusch put up her best collegiate week inside the softball circle picking up four win in four appearances at Francis Marion, Lenoir-Rhyne and in both ends of a Conference Carolinas doubleheader at Lees-McRae.
Jarmusch opened with a 5-4 win in game two at Francis Marion on Tuesday tossing five innings allowing just two earned runs on just three hits to defeat the Patriots. Less than 24 hours against Lenoir-Rhyne, Jarmusch tossed a complete-game four-hitter against the Bears with six strikeouts helping the Lady Falcons cage the Bears 1-0. At Lees-McRae on Sunday, Jarmusch came on in relief of game one hurling the final two frames allowing and unearned run on two hits with a strikeout as Pfeiffer came back for a 7-6, eight-inning win in the opener. In game two, it was all Jarmusch tossing another complete-game, this one a three-hitter, while fanning seven to pick up her fourth win of the week.
Jarmusch and the Lady Falcons will end the regular season this week traveling to Johnson C. Smith, Limestone and Belmont Abbey before hosting Mount Olive on senior day Sunday afternoon.
