Men's Tennis Season Ends with 5-1 Loss to Coker in Conference Tournament Semis

SUMTER, S.C. - The Pfeiffer University men's tennis team saw their 2012-2013 season come to an end on Saturday morning with a 5-1 defeat at the hands of top-seeded Coker in the annual Conference Carolinas tournament at the Palmetto Tennis Center. The Falcons defeated Queens 5-3 in the quarterfinals before falling to the Cobras 5-1.
Against Queens, Pfeiffer would take a 2-1 lead after doubles with the teams of Loic Minery/Ben Hunter and Sebastian Wernecke/Ethan Lyon picking up 8-3 and 8-2 victories. In singles, it was Minery, Luis Villalta and Stephen Miller picking up the singles points to clinch the quarterfinal win. Minery needed three sets before grabbing a narrow 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win while Villalta and Miller both cruised two and one in their matches.
In the semifinals matchup with Coker, Pfeiffer's lone point would come in #1 doubles as Minery/Hunter doubled up their opponents 8-4. Coker would coast in singles picking up three quick points to end the Falcons season with their 5-1 victory.
