MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University Head Women’s Basketball Coach Roy Dow has announced the hiring of Jordan Franey as the team’s assistant coach. Franey spent the 2012-13 season as Dow’s assistant at California Lutheran University.

“I couldn’t be more excited about having Jordan at Pfeiffer,” said Dow. “I worked with her previously so it will be a seamless transition. She is a terrific young, developing coach and our student athletes will enjoy her enthusiasm and knowledge.”

In Franey’s one season as an Assistant Coach for the Regals, the squad finished 23-5, tying the school record for most wins in a season. Cal Lutheran also won the regular season SCIAC crown with a 13-3 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament by capturing the SCIAC Conference Tournament Title. The Regals led the conference in defense, allowing on 55.7 points per game, and their .405 field goal percentage, and 4.7 rebounding margin, was also tops in the league.

Prior to her stint at Cal Lutheran, Franey was a Graduate Assistant Coach at Whittier College from 2010-12. On the sidelines for Whittier, Franey helped with post player development, as well as working on the team’s strength and conditioning. She also oversaw recruiting and the academic progress of her players.

Franey had a decorated playing career at Division I UC Santa Barbara. She was part of three Big West Conference Championships, as well as two consecutive berths to the NCAA Tournament (2008, 2009). The Gauchos fell to the eventual tournament runner-up, Stanford, in 2009. Franey was named the Big West Freshman of the Year in 2006-07 and posted the eighth most assists and 10th most points scored during a freshmen campaign in school history.  Franey earned a selection to the Big West All-Conference and All-Academic Teams during the 2008-09 season and played in all 128 games during her career.

Franey gained her bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara in 2010 with a major in History and minors in Exercise & Sport Science and Education & Applied Psychology. She received her master’s from Whittier in 2012 while studying Education and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a grade point average of 3.912.
