Women's Volleyball Falls at Nova Southeastern Tournament

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – On the second day of the Nova Southeastern Tournament, the Pfeiffer women’s volleyball team (0-4) dropped matches against Rollins, and the host Sharks on Saturday afternoon. Pfeiffer lost each match in three.

In the opener, Rollins won by scores of 9-25, 8-25, and 17-25 as the Lady Falcons struggled to fight through errors. For the match, Pfeiffer had 20 hitting errors and posted a -.064 hitting percentage, while Rollins hit .371 as a team. Kelly Lancellot and Milana Mervosh led the team with four kills apiece.

The Lady Falcons showed much improvement in match number two. Against Nova Southeastern, Pfeiffer was in every match before falling by finals of 19-25, 20-25 and 20-25. Lancellot posted a team-high eight kills and four service aces, while Emily Wall dished out 11 assists. On the defensive side, Nicole Nitu had a game-high 21 digs.

“I can’t fault the girls’ effort today,” said coach Paul Lawson. “We worked hard and got better as the day and weekend went on. I was proud of the toughness that we showed today and the heart we showed.”

The Lady Falcons return to action next Saturday when they compete in the GRU Augusta Tri-Match in Augusta, Ga. Pfeiffer will take on Augusta St. and Montevallo at 2 and 5 p.m.
