Women's Soccer Pushes Winning Streak to Three in Convincing Win Over King

Box Score

BRISTOL Tenn. – The Pfeiffer University women’s soccer team (3-3, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) ran its winning streak to three games with a convincing 4-0 victory at King (1-5, 0-1) on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Lady Falcons scored three first half goals, including two by reigning Conference Carolinas Freshmen of the Year Aaliyah Jackson, to open Conference Carolinas play. Pfeiffer has held King scoreless in 310 minutes of game time over the past three seasons as the team’s tied 0-0 in double overtime each of the prior two matchups.

Jackson first struck at the 16:05 mark of the first half on a through ball from Brae Buster and her shot beat the keeper. Just over 11 minutes later, Jackson used an elusive one-on-one move to get past the keeper from three yards out, for her fourth score of the season. Combining those goals with the game-winner Jackson scored in the 88th minute against Queens on Sunday, Sept. 15, the sophomore forward had a hat trick in just less than 30 minutes of play. Buster netted the third goal of her freshman season in the 35th minute when she took a through ball from Katie Collins and scored from six yards out. The half ended with the Lady Falcons holding a commanding 11-3 advantage in shots.

Pfeiffer kept the pressure on in the second half, outshooting the Tornados 8-2 in the first 15 minutes of the half. At the 59:05 mark, Kayla Rodriguez gave the Lady Falcons a four goal lead with her first goal of the season, the assist was credited to Hannah Hill. Hannah Kish nearly made it 5-0 but her shot deflected off the crossbar.

For the match, Pfeiffer doubled up King in the shot column, 26-13, and put 15 on goal.  Nicole Dagher made 11 saves in the losing effort, while Natalie Marsh recorded the shutout, making four stops.

The Lady Falcons return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Gaffney, SC to take on Limestone with kick off slated for 2 p.m. Pfeiffer will be looking to avenge last year’s 2-0 loss at home to Limestone on Sept. 12.
