Women's Volleyball Loses to Limestone, 3-0

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Pfeiffer women’s volleyball team (5-14, 3-6 CC) traveled to Limestone and were swept 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action. Limestone (8-10, 6-3) got a game-high 14 kills from Regan Youngs to come away victorious by scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-16.
The Lady Falcons best statistical set was the opener, as they hit .220 as a team and had a 14-13 advantage in kills. The Lady Falcons held a 17-15 lead in the first frame, but Limestone rallied to grab eight of the last 14 points to steal the first game.
Pfeiffer came out strong in the second set, grabbing an early 5-2 advantage on a kill by Shelby Younger. The hosts took control and roared ahead, 15-9. Pfeiffer ran off a string of six out of seven points to close the gap to 16-15 but Limestone would respond with six straight points and take set two.
Set three was back-and-forth as the score was tied on nine different occasions, with the last being at 13 all. Again, Limestone used a big run to take control and win the set. Limestone closed out the frame on a 12-3 run to end the match.
In total, Brianna Jones and Kelly Lancellot paced the Lady Falcon offense with six kills apiece. Emily Wall had 16 assists and three aces, while Shelby Younger had seven digs. Anna Vizvary and Lancellot had three blocks each.
The Lady Falcons return to action on Friday night when they host Winston Salem St. in non-conference action at Merner Gymnasuim. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
