Swimming Competes at Converse; Turkin Leads Men to Victory While Women Go Winless

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Pfeiffer men's and women's swimming teams competed at Converse on Saturday afternoon at the Weisiger Center. The men's team defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 167-94. The women fell to the Bears 138-120 and were also defeated by Converse, 149-112.

On the men's side, the foursome of Vali Kaufmann, Matt Burns, Grant Smith and Ethan Garrison took home the top spot in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:38.28. Kaufmann won the 200-yard Freestyle, shaving nearly two seconds off his seed time, finishing in 1:46.38. Dima Turkin won the 100-yard Backstroke, 50-yard Freestyle and the 100-yard Butterfly.  

For the Lady Falcons, Jessica Burgess topped all swimmers in the 100-yard Backstroke, finishing in 1:03.58, nearly two full seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Kate Galichenko won the 200-yard Butterfly with an impressive time of 2:15.66 and also took home the top spot in the 100-yard Butterfly and 200-yard Individual Medley.

The swimming teams are off until Nov. 8 when they travel to Milligan College, TN to take on Milligan and King.
