Cross Country Wraps Up Season at NCAA Regionals

CHARLOTTE, NC – The men’s and women’s cross country team completed its 2013 season by competing in the NCAA Divison II Southeast Regional at McAlpine Park. The men finished in 19th place, while the women finished 21st.
Freshman Chris Laughlin was the men’s top finisher, running the 10-k course in a time of 34:29.7 which placed him 76th overall. Laughlin had an especially strong freshman season, also pacing the team in the Conference Meet and earning a Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week award. Finishing second for the Falcons was sophomore Henry Furman, followed by Josh Wilhout and Nicholas Owens. The three runners finished 95th, 96th and 98th respectively. Dillon Edwards rounded out the top five with a time of 35:38.8.
On the women’s side, sophomore Janna Featherstone ran the 6-k in a time of 25:00 flat, finishing 88th. Cori Newton came in second for the Falcons, trailed by Mary Stegall and Trista Byers. The top five was rounded out by Christie Baran who finished in a time of 27:08.6.
