Women's Soccer Draws Belmont Abbey in NCAA Tournament First Round

The Pfeiffer women's soccer team (13-6-1) is headed for the NCAA Tournament and earned the sixth seed in the Southeast bracket. For the second time in less than a week, the Falcons will take on Belmont Abbey, who drew the region's number three seed.
The two teams battled to a for 110 minutes in the Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship game on Saturday afternoon, hosted by the Crusaders. The game was sent to penalty kicks after the 1-1 tie couldn't be broken in regulation, or two overtime periods. Brae Buster
scored the clinching goal as Pfeiffer won in penalty kicks, 5-3.
The winner of the first round game will take on Lenoir-Rhyne on Sunday afternoon. The Bears were awarded the top seed in the region.
Pfeiffer has never won an NCAA Tournament game and last qualified in 2010. They fell to UNC Pembroke in the opening road that season, by a final score of 3-0.
