Williams' 21 Points Not Enough as Falcons Fall to Catawba

MISENHEIMER, NC - Carter Williams scored 21 points and shot 72 percent from the field but the Pfeiffer women's basketball team (0-2) fell to Catawba (1-0) by a final score of 82-73 on Tuesday night. The Indians were led by Chloe Bully who poured in a game-high 30 points, including 24 in the second half.
Three players scored in double figures for the visitors, who held a 16-6 advantage on the offensive glass. Pfeiffer shot 52 percent from the field and went 20-for-25 from the charity stripe.
Carlisha Holivay added 16 points and five boards. Williams also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists.
Mallary Clay added 13 points for Catawba and Emma Ucinski added 12.
Pfeiffer had the lead much of the first half and went into the break with a 36-34 advantage. Each team went to the free throw line 15 times in the physical first half and Williams accounted for 16 of her 21 points and missed only one shot from the field.
Catawba pulled away in the second half as Bully took over. She knocked down five three pointers and went 7-10 from the field. The point guard accounted for exactly half of her team's 48 second half points.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Mars Hill on the road at 2 p.m.
