Men's Basketball Goes Cold Against Erskine; McNair Records Third Straight Double-Digit Rebounding Game

MISENEHEIMER, N.C. - Sophomore David McNair recorded his third straight game in double-digit rebounds, but the Pfeiffer men's basketball team (4-12, 1-6 CC) lost at home to Erskine (11-4, 5-1) by a final score of 67-57 on Saturday evening. McNair grabbed 14 rebounds and is averaging 16.3 rebounds per game over his last three contests.

The game featured two the nation's top three scorers in Roderick Perkins of the Flying Fleet, and Pfeiffer's Mike Smith. Each of the prolific scorers struggled, failing to reach their season averages. Perkins, the nation's top scorer, came in averaging 27.3 points per game, but was limited to 15 points on 4 of 12 shooting. Smith also had 15 on 6 0f 14 shooting, well below his season average of 25.3 points per game.

Jake Haslam led all scorers with 18 points, all coming from behind the arc. Haslam went 3 for 3 from long range in the game's first 2:18 as the Flying Fleet stormed out to a 9-2 lead.

Chris Gore hauled in 14 boards and Perkins grabbed 10.  

Joe Ledbetter had nine rebounds in 15 minutes of play for Pfeiffer and AJ Clark added 10 points and six assists, while sophomore Silvere Aluko rejected four shots.

Each team struggled to find consistency on the offensive end. Pfeiffer scored a season-low 57 points and shot only 37.1 percent from the floor. Erskine converted on just 31.3 percent of their field goals, but were aided by a 50-43 rebounding advantage, including 21 on the offensive glass.

Pfeiffer hit only 5 of 17 attempts from the three point line and Erskine went 10 for 33. Matt Ellwood provided a lift off the bench for the Falcons, scoring nine points on 3 of 5 shooting from long range, his teammates went a combined 2 for 12 from three.

The Falcons return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Barton for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
