Softball Ranked Sixth in Preseason Conference Poll

High Point, NC – Conference Carolinas Softball Coaches have voted the University of Mount Olive as the preseason favorite entering the 2014 season.  Pfeiffer has been selected to finish sixth in the preseason voting.

In his first season as head coach, Chris Vullo led the Falcons to 21 wins, with 10 coming in conference play.  Vullo’s Falcons increased their overall win total as well as their conference win total from the prior season.  Led by a pitching staff that posted a 3.20 team ERA, Vullo coached five All-Academic players, two players of the week, and one All-Conference Player.

Pfeiffer returns infielder Hannah Jackson who was selected to the Conference Carolinas First Team in 2013. Jackson finished the regular season batting .312, the team leader of anyone with more than 58 at bats, and had a fielding percentage of .959. 

Also returning for the Falcons is pitcher Sam Jarmusch who led the team with 11 wins and recorded 76 strikeouts.  Jarmusch finished ninth in the conference in strikeouts and had an average of 4.28 strikeouts per game.

Pfeiffer opens the season on Tuesday, February 4 when they travel to Winston-Salem, NC to take on the Winston-Salem State Rams in a double-header starting at 3 p.m.  Conference play begins on March 8 when the Falcons travel to North Greenville.
