Men's Tennis Dismantles Johnson C. Smith

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer men’s tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season after handling Johnson C. Smith (0-6) with ease by a final score of 9-0 at Knapp Tennis center.

Pfeiffer swept through the doubles competition as the team of Loic Minery and Sebastian Wernecke won in the number one doubles slot by a score of 8-1.  Bret Williams and Orlando Castillo took care of business in the number two doubles spot winning by a score of 8-1.  The number three doubles team of Axel Woerner and Stephen Miller completed the doubles competition by winning 8-0.

Pfeiffer finished 6-0 in singles competition.  Minery defeated Darrell Sawyer in the number one singles slot by scores of 6-2, 6-0.  Woerner easily dispatched his opponent in the number two position by winning in straight sets with scores of 6-0, 6-1.

With the match already clinched, the Falcons soared through the remaining four spots as Wernecke, Jimmy Molina, Miller, and Williams won in straight sets by scores of 6-0 in each set.

The Falcons will return to action Saturday, Feb. 22 as they travel to conference foe North Greenville.  The match is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
